Dear all,
we have two positions available on the Databox project starting September 2017:
https://www.databoxproject.uk/jobs/
- Postdoctoral Researcher on Privacy Protocols and Machine Learning at QMUL (closes 18 June 2017). This is a full time post for two years starting 1 September 2017 or earlier by mutual agreement.
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant position on Privacy Protocols and Machine Learning aspects of the EPSRC Databox Project (http://www.databoxproject.uk), with a particular focus on designing, building, and implementation of efficient and scalable privacy protocols and machine learning algorithms, in conjunction with the Databox system, and supporting the applications through the deployments and studies.
They will collaborate with the team to evaluate mechanisms for specifying privacy requirements and determining the data flow between the Databox datastores and external applications. They will engage with the other team members in design and conduct of experiments assessing the interaction of users with exemplar apps and data from social media, mobile sensors, IoT devices, or personal record (bank accounts, health data, etc). The ideal candidate will also be able to lead our engagement activities with the Open-source Community.
- Postdoctoral Researcher on data sensing, aggregation, and HDI/HCI applications at QMUL (closes 9th July 2017). This is a full time post for 14 months (with possibility of extension) starting 1 September 2017 or as soon as feasible after this date.
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant position on data sensing, aggregation, and applications’ aspects of the EPSRC Databox Project (http://www.databoxproject.uk), with a particular focus on designing and building data inference and analytics algorithms and applications in conjunction with the Databox system (see https://github.com/me-box/), and supporting the applications through the initial deployments and studies. They will engage in design and conduct experiments evaluating the success of sensing and inference algorithms and methods developed, and assessing the interaction of users with exemplar apps and data from social media, mobile sensors, IoT devices, or personal record (bank accounts, health data, etc.).
The responsibilities of the role are to focus on design and development of (i) native and (ii) third-party services using the Databox, informed by the work of the project team on HCI/HDI (human-centred studies); and evaluation of mechanisms for specifying privacy requirements and determining the data flow between the Databox, app developers, and external applications.
Please kindly forward this to prospective candidates.
Best wishes
